In 2021, we decided to escape the city life, seeking a tranquil countryside existence. Although the anticipated slower pace of life didn't fully materialize, and we've indeed worked harder than ever before, we've never regretted our decision.
Our aspiration had always been to manage a business that harmonizes our love for nature and the countryside with our passion and purpose. The pristine, nature-rich valleys of Mid Wales, with their unspoilt landscapes, perfectly met our criteria. We've always cherished our escapes to these tranquil rural areas, often choosing camping or glamping in Wales, so we thought, why not turn our holiday into a lifestyle? We eventually stumbled upon the ideal location, plunging headfirst into this venture. Living completely off-grid, with no connection to mains utilities, was challenging, but the journey has been immensely rewarding, and our love for the place grows with every passing week.
We are passionate about our business and the customer is at the heart of everything we do. They are the driving force for our inspiration and we thrive on improving our service and offering wherever possible at all times. We aim to provide a destination that is unforgettable and to leave guests feeling they've had great value for money, and we love nothing more than when satisfied guests come back for a return visit; it makes the journey all the more worthwhile
We have renovated the cottage and are in the process of renovating the barn to a higher standard, all the while conscious of keeping in touch with the characteristics of the traditional stone buildings and to be sympathetic with any works we undertake to keep the magical charm of the place.
We have built 3 glamping pods in our meadow since moving here, something we wanted to add so others can share in the beauty of the area, much in the same way that we enjoyed and appreciated when we went glamping. Additionally, we've creating a unique venue for larger groups of family and friends.
We have always been avid wildlife and nature lovers and as we are in a secluded spot within our own valley, we believe it's important to keep the site and wider area as natural as possible, leaving the broadleaf woodland and open grassland areas to nature and maintaining the abundant variety of birdlife as it is. Over time we are also trying to enhance the wildlife where possible, such as providing aquatic areas to aid the current population of newts, frogs and dragon flies, amongst others, but also designating areas for wild meadow flowers in order to increase the diversity of native wild flowers and all the benefits this brings with it. And in fact we're already noticing an increase in butterfly populations, which is great news!
The picture here is of us both on our very first day we moved here. So much has been done already, and there is so much more to come in the future. To risk sounding the cliché alarm, we believe life is about the journey, not just the destination.. So please come along and share in our journey, and above all, see the incredible beauty of this hidden gem for yourselves and add this to your list of holiday memories.
Thank you,
Alex and Katie
