The valley at Wales in the Woods

Our story

A different pace
of life.

Alex & Katie

Keepers of the valley.

In 2021, we left city life for Cwm Bedw, hoping to build a life closer to the countryside we had always loved visiting. The slower pace did not quite go to plan: creating Wales in the Woods has kept us busier than ever.

Making a home, sharing a valley

Learning to live off-grid brought its challenges. We renovated the cottage, built three glamping pods in the meadow and developed the barn as a place for families and friends to gather, preserving the character of the traditional stone buildings.

Room for nature, too

We care for the valley with wildlife in mind, leaving space for broadleaf woodland and meadow flowers, and encouraging ponds and habitats for newts, frogs, dragonflies and butterflies.

Welcoming guests and seeing them return makes the work worthwhile. We are still shaping this place, and look forward to sharing its next chapter with you.

Our story

“We came here to change our own pace of life. Then we began creating a place where other people could do the same.”
